Wednesday night was the 2018 Fortis Community Awards, which recognises ordinary people within their community doing extraordinary things.
This year the Digital Champions were well represented, with two nominations. Chantelle was nominated for volunteer of the year for her work running a digital inclusion session at the Octagon in Malvern. I was nominated for the inspiration award for my work creating and managing this website. A special mention also for Michael, another digital champion who gave up his time to help organise and put on this year’s award ceremony.
We didn’t win anything this year, but those that did really deserved the awards they received. Last year the digital champions won the Group Community Project award, for delivering a project that has made a positive impact on their community, and the year before that Digital Transformation Officer Tim Marsh won the Community Involvement Award for making a difference in Fortis Living communities. So that’s quite a run of success we’ve been on!
All of the digital champions work hard to help people, getting them back into work or increasing their understanding of the internet and digital devices, they all do outstanding work.
I would just like to say a massive thanks to every single one of them for all of their hard work and dedication. They have improved and enriched the lives of people in their communities.
